A Bollywood-themed night in aid of Wirral Mencap has raised more than £4,000 for the charity.

The sell-out event on Saturday, May 11, raised a final total of £4,227.64, all of which will go towards supporting adults with learning disabilities on Wirral.

This was the first Bollywood Night hosted by the charity and was organised in conjunction with Rama Rangan and her family.

Rama’s son, Neeraj, has been supported by Wirral Mencap and the family wanted to give back to the charity.

Rama had this to say about the night: "It was a wonderful evening, and all the guests seemed to enjoy it as many have asked if we would have one again next year.

"The event was just a small thank you from a very grateful family for the time Neeraj spent with Wirral Mencap."

Neeraj himself was at the event and had a great time, adding: “I really enjoyed the evening and met many people there.”

Guests were treated to a night full of singing and dancing with performances from local Bollywood dance groups and singers.

An array of friends of the Rangan family performed songs and there was even a belly dance performance to keep everyone entertained.

There was also a three-course meal provided by Sai Spice, an Indian restaurant based in Manchester. It was a great opportunity to try some traditional Indian food.

Wirral Mencap’s fundraiser Rebecca  Chapman said: "Hosting a Bollywood Night has been a new experience for us, and it has been fantastic to see it come together in an amazing night of entertainment.

"The performers did a brilliant job, and we were treated to delicious food. It was definitely a night to remember!"

Wirral Mencap would like to thank all those who got involved with the Bollywood Night, especially the Rangan family and the event’s Charity Partners, North Wirral Round Table and MoneySuperMarket
