A YELLOW weather warning has been issued as heavy rain is expected to hit Wirral.
The Met Office announced today (Thursday, May 16) that heavy rain may produce some flooding and transport disruption across the borough.
The warning comes into force at 1pm this afternoon and is expected to last until 11pm.
Experts have warned that there is a slight chance of power cuts and loss of other services to some homes and businesses
There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings. Where flooding occurs, there is a slight chance of delays or cancellations to train and bus services
Meteorologists have said that spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures and that there is a small chance that some communities will become cut off by flooded roads.
There is also a small chance of fast flowing or deep floodwater causing danger to life.
A Met Office spokesperson said: “An area of heavy rain is expected to move west across parts of England and then into Wales during today.
“There remains some uncertainty as to how far north or south this band of rain will be, but there is a small chance that it will become slow-moving over parts of the West Midlands and northwest England, as well as into Wales later this afternoon and early evening. Should this happen then some places could see 40-60 mm of rain falling in 3-6 hours.”
