RNLI West Kirby rescued a man who had broken his arm while on an island off the Wirral coast.

On Thursday, May 9, RNLI West Kirby Lifeboat was called out to reports of a man with a broken arm on Little Eye island.

When rescue crews reached the man they found he had slipped on mud covered rocks and was in “severe pain” from a “badly” broken arm.

The man was assessed and given pain medication before he was moved on a stretcher ashore.

Volunteers were then met by North West Ambulance Service and Wirral Coastguard Rescue Team who got the casualty out of the boat and to hospital.

Posting on social media, a spokesperson for RNLI West Kirby Lifeboat said: “Last night RNLI West Kirby Lifeboat was called out to reports of a man with a broken arm on Little Eye.

We soon reached the in our BV206 Launch Vehicle and found he'd slipped on mud covered rocks.

“He was in severe pain from a badly broken arm. He was assessed and given pain medication prior to moving him. We then used the D-Class ILB as a stretcher to get him ashore.

“There we were met by NWAS and Wirral Coastguard Rescue Team. These guys went into professional overdrive and got the casualty out of the boat and away to hospital in the blink of an eye. Amazing to watch.

“Good luck in your recovery Lewis. You made us all laugh. You're a brave man!”
