A FLOOD alert for the River Mersey has been issued this morning, Tuesday, ahead of the high tide forecast this afternoon
Flooding is possible at low lying lands and roads from 12:00 PM on April 9 including areas of Ellesmere Port
Other areas covered by the alert include:
Rock park, peaking around 12:30 PM
Hale Village, peaking around 1:00 PM
A spokesperson for the Environment Agency said: "We are expecting higher than normal tides over the next 2 days and as a result we may issue further alerts or warnings.
"Our incident rooms are on standby and we are closely monitoring the situation.
"We are liaising with emergency services and local authorities.
"Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses and do not attempt to walk or drive through flood water. "
Areas at risk include Liverpool, New Ferry, Woodside, Ellesmere Port, Runcorn, Widnes and Hale Village.
