A YELLOW weather warning for strong winds is in place for Saturday, Wirral residents are being advised.
Forecasters have warned that Storm Kathleen will bring “very windy weather” to Merseyside this weekend.
The warning comes into force at 8am tomorrow (Saturday, April 6) and will remain in place until 10pm.
Met Office experts have said residents can expect some damage to buildings, such as tiles blown from roofs and that injuries and danger to life from flying debris is also possible.
Power cuts may occur, with the potential to affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage.
Injuries and danger to life could occur from large waves and beach material being thrown onto sea fronts, coastal roads and properties.
Some roads and bridges may close and road, rail, air and ferry services may be affected, with longer journey times and cancellations possible.
A spokesperson for the Met Office said: “Storm Kathleen will bring a spell of very windy weather to parts of western Britain and Northern Ireland this weekend.
“Southerly winds are expected to gust quite widely to 50-60 mph on Saturday, while some exposed spots, particularly in Northern Ireland, will see gusts to 70 mph with large waves also likely.”
