A TEMPORARY site has been set up in Ellesmere Port to provide a ‘stopping place’ for Traveller groups in the area.
The site, on Oil Sites Road, has been set up by the Council and is being managed by Cheshire and Warrington Traveller Team.
It is not an unauthorised encampment, but instead an area in which groups can legally stop.
An ‘unauthorised encampment’ refers to caravans and/or other vehicles on land without the landowner or occupier's consent and constituting trespass.
These typically fall into two categories: those on local authority land such as highways, schools, public parks, and car parks or those on privately owned land.
Residents who wish to raise any issues regarding unauthorised encampments can email: GypsyandTravellersenquiries@cheshirewestandchester.gov.uk.
