A MAN was left “fearing for his safety” after his bike was robbed onboard a Wirral line train.
At around 6.20pm on Friday, January 19 a man boarded a train at New Brighton station with his Trek Roscoe 7 bike.
Two young men who were part of a larger group approached him and stopped him from leaving the train with his bike.
Fearing for his safety the man left the train without his bike at Birkenhead Central station while the young men stayed on the service to Moorfields station with the bike valued at around £1,500.
Officers have released a CCTV image in connection with the incident and believe the young man in the image may have information which could assist their investigation.
A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: “If you recognise him, or have any other information, please contact BTP by texting 61016 or call 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 508 of 19 January.
“Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
