A NEW shop selling “geeky” toys, memorabilia, and retro video games has opened in Wirral.
Geeky Nerd Toys and Starbase 55 Toys and Collectables opened its doors on Saturday, March 2 at Champions Business Park on Arrowe Brooke Road in Birkenhead.
The new store is described as a “haven for geeks, gamers and film lovers”.
The idea for the store came from Nick Roach, owner of Geeky Nerd Toys, and James Lowe, owner of Starbase 55 Toys and Collectibles based in Ellesmere Port market. The pair decided to join their businesses together and sell from one store.
The shop sells a unique combination of modern collectible toys from Neca, Mezco Toyz, Funko Pop! Vinyl, Loungefly bags, Pokémon and Yu-gi-oh cards and toys, Star Wars, Marvel and DC comic book figures, retro video games and consoles, anime figures and figurines, Comic Books, vintage toys with items from Star Wars, GI Joe, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, and Jurassic Park.
James told the Globe: “We opened on March 2 to an excellent first day. It was extremely busy from open to close. Nicks stock is the modern toys and I sell the vintage toys.
“The store has gone from strength to strength since really. We’ve had fantastic feedback from the local community.
“We have seen a lot of new faces and had a lot of new items in since opening. It’s been fantastic.”
Geeky Nerd Toys and Starbase 55 Toys and Collectables based at Unit P9 Champions Business Park, Arrowe Brooke Road, Birkenhead, CH49 0AB.
Opening hours are Monday-Saturday 10am until 4.30pm. Those wanting to visit the store on Sundays are by appointment only.
