BOMB disposal experts have detonated a suspected hand grenade on Hoylake beach this morning (Thursday, March 14).
Pictures and videos on social media show police officers close to the beach and the Hoylake Beach slipway.
According to one eye witness the suspected device was found in the fireplace of a nearby house.

An explosion can be seen taking place on the beach in the footage.
A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "We can confirm a hand grenade was safely detonated in Wirral today (Thursday, March 14).
"We were contacted at 8.40am following reports the grenade had been found in a property under renovation in the Gayton area.
"The EOD carried out a controlled explosion on the beach near Hoylake."
This is the third similar incident to take place in Wirral this week with suspected devices also found in New Brighton and Birkenhead.
