BOMB disposal experts were called to two incidents on Wirral today (Tuesday, March 12).
A suspected bomb was found in Birkenhead at around the same time a similar device was found elsewhere in New Brighton.
Merseyside Police say they received a report of an unexploded device in a property on Price Street in Birkenhead at around 10.40am.
The report followed an incident in New Brighton, when the discovery of a device near the Dips was also reported at around 10.05am.
A number of buildings are understood to have been evacuated in the town.
Merseyside Police confirmed they attended the scene before an Army bomb disposal team safely removed the suspected device.
A statement read: "At around 10.40am, we received a report that the device was inside a property on Price Street, in Birkenhead. The Army’s EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal team) attended to safely remove the device and the scene has now been stood down.
"This is in addition to another suspected unexploded ordnance device which was found in the New Brighton area, near Coastal Drive, at around 10.05am today. This has also been removed safely by the Army's EOD and the scene stood down.
"Both devices have been now been safely detonated.
"We would like to take this opportunity to remind members of the public to always contact emergency services immediately if they find a suspicious item in a public place and to never take it back to a residential property."
