POLICE on patrol in Liscard stopped a motorist driving while more than three times over the limit with a five-year-old child in the vehicle.

The vehicle, which was described as travelling at excess speed, was on Rake Lane at rush hour on Thursday evening (February 22). It had multiple occupants inside, including the child.

A Facebook post from Wirral Police stated: "The driver smelled of alcohol and officers conducted a breath test with a result three-and-a-half times over the limit."

The driver was arrested and when in custody, provided a sample of 101. The legal limit is 35. The motorist has since been charged and is due to appear in court.

The Facebook post from Wirral Police continued: "To decide to drive whilst under the influence is wrong but to make a decision to drive with a five-year-old child in the car is abhorrent.

"Lives were put at risk unnecessarily and thankfully on this occasion the driver was caught. It's not worth the risk."
