Wirral model and singer “proud” as career takes her to California

Yasmin Deplidge, from Heswall, signed with Boss Model Management when she was a child and began working full-time as a model around two years ago.

The 23-year-old, who has also released two singles, is now hoping to make the move to the States after signing with The Industry Model Management in LA.

Yasmin told the Globe: “My dad was a model with Boss for years when they first opened and he had always done modelling as his job growing up so I got into it through him.

“With singing I’ve sang my entire life but I started writing and going into studios to record from around the age of 15.

“Both careers go hand in hand with each other - there’s a lot of skills I do in modelling that I can use in my singing and a lot of skills I have from singing that help with modelling. They really gel together well.”

From a young age, Yasmin knew she wanted a career in the spotlight stating she “always loved" being in front of the camera.

She said: “I was always interested in modelling and singing. I was always that annoying kid who would want to put on shows and make sure it was filmed. I loved being in front of the camera and getting involved in family photoshoots on holiday.

“Also from looking at my dad’s portfolio as a kid growing up I knew I wanted to do it.”

Since starting her career, Yasmin has completed a campaign for Guess in Switzerland and is a regular presence in the Manchester fashion scene, working with brands like Boohoo, PLT, and Mars the label.

She said: “I absolutely love it I always say that I couldn't imagine doing anything else because you get the creative freedom. It’s so different from a nine-to-five job. I constantly have to be active and doing things.

“People think modelling is an easy job but you do not get a second to sit down.

“I feel like my best is yet to come but flying out to shoot with Guess was amazing. It’s a brand I’ve loved since I was a kid and I had always wanted to work with them.

Since flying out in July last year and securing a contract with Industry Models, Yasmin is in the process of getting her US Visa application so she can start working in LA.

She said: “I’m itching to get out there. I’m very proud to be from the Wirral and to be representing the area.

"I’m really excited about starting this new journey. The whole idea of living abroad alone in a whole different country with a different time zone is so exciting. I can’t wait to see what I can achieve.”
