PREPERATIONS are underway for the demolition of the annexes at Wallasey Town Hall.
The annexes on either side of the town hall are set to be demolished after the council has received a £2.3 million grant.
The North and South Annexe sit either side of Wallasey Town Hall as part of the Town Hall Quarter, they were vacated as administration offices in March 2020 during the Covid pandemic but had been earmarked for decommissioning prior to this.

Work has taken place to remove asbestos and disconnection of all utilities and other services. A contractor has been appointed to carry out the demolition of the buildings and clear the site.
Contractors have been working on the site since Monday, February 5 and works are expected to take 20 weeks.
The demolitions will be phased, and have started with the South Annexe, with hoardings put up around the building.
The building will then be stripped of internal fixtures and fittings before demolition of the structure is started.
The second phase will see the same process for the North Annexe.
It was announced in October last year that the annexes were set to be demolished after the council received a £2.3 million grant.
The demolition of the unused annexe buildings is an early step in the regeneration proposals for the Seacombe area, focused around the Grade II* listed Wallasey Town Hall.
The project has been funded by HM Government via the Brownfield Land Release Fund (BLRF2).
The cash has been awarded to Wirral to remove the annexes and make the land available for development.
Here are pictures of the South Annexe prepped and ready for demolition.
