AN AIR ambulance has landed near the scene of a crash on the M53 motorway.
Emergency services are in attendance after junction 9 (Ellesmere Port) and south of junction 8 due to a crash involving a lorry and a tipper truck.
The incident took place at around 10.30am today (Wednesday, February 14).
As a result of the crash, one of the vans overturned and leaked oil onto the carriageway.
An air ambulance landed at the Green Oak Farm pub, near to the scene.
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said they freed a man who trapped inside one of the vehicles and at around 1.20pm using two specialist recovery vehicles.
He has been taken to Aintree Hospital where his injuries are believed to be serious but not life-changing.
National Highways have said 200 yards of oil require treating and equipment has been requested.
All closures remain in place.

Northbound - Hollow Square - Exit the M53 northbound at J9. At the M53 J9/A5032 roundabout, take the second exit and follow the A5032 northbound. At the A5032/M53 J8 roundabout, take the second exit and re-join the M53 northbound.
