A TEENAGER has been charged following a knifepoint robbery in Liscard last month.

Bennie Kelly, 18, of New Chester Road, Rock Ferry, was charged with robbery on Tuesday (February 13).

He has been remanded into custody and will appear at Liverpool Youth Court on Tuesday, March 13.

It follows an incident on Tuesday, January 30. At around 5.15pm that day, it was reported that a 12-year-old boy was riding his mountain bike with his friend on St Albans Road in Liscard.

The boy was approached from behind by a group of boys riding two electric mountain bikes while one was on foot. The victim was pushed from behind and fell from his bike as he was threatened by one of the boys with a large knife.

The group then took the boy’s bike and made off towards the Central Park area.

Since the attack detectives have found the bike, charged a 16-year-old boy from Liscard with robbery and arrested a 17-year-old boy who has since been released under investigation.

Officers have also conducted CCTV and witness enquiries in the area as part of their investigation.

Detective Inspector Phil Ryan said: “This was a frightening attack on two boys who were threatened with a dangerous weapon and left fearing for their own safety after their bike was stolen.

“Thankfully no one was injured but the 12-year-old boy was left seriously distressed after the incident and could have been seriously hurt during this violent attack."
