EMERGENCY services were called to a house fire in Birkenhead after a bedroom was found alight.

At around 7.35pm yesterday (Tuesday, February 13) Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service attended an incident on Cavendish Road, Birkenhead.

On arrival fire crews found a bedroom on fire on the first floor of a house.

Residents of the property were out prior to crews attendance.

North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) were also at scene.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service said: “Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service attended an incident on Cavendish Road, Birkenhead on 13 February.

“Crews were alerted at 7.53pm and two fire engines were on scene at 7.57pm.

“On arrival crews found a bedroom involved in fire on the first floor of a house.

“Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus began fighting the fire using a hose reel jet. Residents of the property were out prior to crews’ attendance.

“North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) were on scene and performed precautionary checks.

“Once the fire was extinguished, firefighters remained on scene to hotspot the area and clear the property of smoke.

“Crews carried out multiple temperature checks in the property before leaving at 3.16am.”
