THREE men have pleaded not guilty to attempted murder after a boy was shot on a Wirral estate.

Curtis and James Byrne, both 22, are accused of attempting to murder Mitchell McGraa, who was 17 at the time, on May 11, 2022 at Beechwood Drive and Fender Way.

Thye are also charged with possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life at the same location.

20-year-old Mason Smith faces the same two charges.

The three suspects appeared at Liverpool Crown Court yesterday (Tuesday, February 13) where they pleaded not guilty to the charges.

At around 10.40pm on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 a 17-year-old man arrived at Arrowe Park Hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his leg.

Police officers rushed to Fender Way on the Beechwood estate in Birkenhead where they found evidence that shots had been fired close to the skate park.

The victim was later discharged from hospital.

Judge David Aubrey KC remanded the defendants into custody ahead of a further hearing on June 14. They are listed for a four-week trial beginning on July 8, 2024.
