THE funeral of former Wirral Radio presenter Johnny Kennedy will take place this afternoon (Tuesday, February 14).
Johnny, from Liverpool, was known by many for presenting Wirral Radio and appearing at the Floral Pavilion.
He died on January 24 at the age of 88.
Known by many as 'JK', Johnny started a new show on 194 Radio City in the 1980s, Bride of the Week.
He went on to present on City Gold and then Magic 1548. He also presented shows on Sandgrounder Radio, Dune FM and 7 Waves 92.1.
As well as his work on radio, JK, who was married to former BBC Radio Merseyside broadcaster Linda McDermott, was also a comedian, vocalist and fundraiser.
He will be laid to rest today at Francis Xavier's Roman Catholic Church on Salisbury Street in Everton.
Hundreds of people are expected to attend the service, which will begin at 1pm, conducted by Bishop Tom Williams, RC Auxiliary Bishop of Liverpool.
Johnny's obituary notice, which was posted on Monday, read: "Adored husband of Linda McDermott, hugely loved Liverpool personality, Radio City and Bride of the Week legend, singer, comedian, entertainer, actor, teacher, charity champion, prolific Fundraiser, passed away January 24 2024 after an illness borne with characteristic courage.
"An incredible life of outstanding achievement and contribution to and love for the City of Liverpool and its people.
"Funeral 14th February 2024, 1pm, St Francis Xavier RC Church, Salisbury Street, Liverpool L3 8DR followed by interment at Anfield Cemetery.
