A KITE surfer and dogwalker were rescued by RNLI West Kirby volunteers during high tides.

Yesterday (Monday, February 12) the RNLI West Kirby Lifeboat was launched after reports of a kite surfer being in difficulty by West Kirby Marine Lake.

The person rescued was described as being in “good spirits” by volunteers and did not require any medical attention.

The team were then redirected to reports of people in “difficulty” on the walkway next to New Brighton Marine Lake after large incoming tides were spilling over the walk way.

Coastguard Rescue Officers assisted a dogwalker to safety and closed the walkway at both ends to stop anyone else from getting into difficulty.

While at the lake, officers received a 999 call reporting that a life ring was in the water by Egremont Ferry. One vehicle was sent to investigate.

If you find yourself and someone else in an emergency at the coast dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
