A WIRRAL seamstress is appealing for information after her shop was broken into.

At around 12.45am on Sunday (February 11) police received a report of a burglary at The Seamstress, on Poulton Road, Wallasey.

Tubs of haberdashery were taken but found in Central Park and returned to owner Tracey Newey by customers.

However, she is now appealing for information about the break in after designer copy coats and an iPod were also stolen from the premises.

She said: “My shop, The Seamstress on Poulton Road, was broken into early hours of Sunday morning. Some tubs of haberdashery bits were taken but found in Central Park and returned to me by one of my lovely customers.

“A few coats were taken that have either been repaired or ready for repair. If anyone has been offered a coat can you please private message me or contact Merseyside Police.

“I know a couple of the coats are copies, and it's not my place to judge why someone can’t afford the genuine article, so chances are someone has paid more than it's actually worth.

“As I've said they've either been repaired or unpicked ready to repair so they're not pristine and I would spot them immediately. Also a blue iPod Nano was taken.

“I think that's everything that was stolen but I'm not allowed back in to check until police have been in to check for fingerprints etc. Any information is much appreciated.”

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police told the Globe: “We can confirm we received a report of a burglary at a premises on Poulton Road at around 12.45am on Sunday 11 February.

“Our enquiries are ongoing into the incident and if you have any information, please call 101 or DM @MerPolCC on X (Twitter) quoting reference number 24000165665.”
