A 12-year-old was threatened with a knife by a gang who then stole his bike during a robbery in Liscard. 

At around 5.15pm on Tuesday, January, 30 it was reported to police that the boy was riding his mountain bike with his friend on St Albans Road.

He was approached from behind by a group of boys riding two electric mountain bikes while one was on foot.

The victim was pushed from behind and fell from his bike as he was threatened by one of the boys with a large knife.

The group then took the boy’s bike and made off towards the Central Park area.

Since the attack detectives have found the bike, charged a 16-year-old boy from Liscard with robbery and have arrested a 17-year-old boy who has since been released under investigation.

Police have also conducted CCTV and witness enquiries in the area and have now issued an image of a man they believe could assist with their investigation.

"Thankfully no one was injured but the 12-year-old boy was left seriously distressed after the incident and could have been seriously hurt during this violent attack.

“We think this man may have vital information to help our enquiries so if you know him, please come forward as soon as possible.

“Similarly, If you live or work in the area where this happened and have any CCTV or dashcam footage from the afternoon of Tuesday 30 January that captured this incident please contact us so we can continue to investigate.

"Information from our community is vital if we are to stop young people carrying knives and dangerous weapons in our community that causes fear on our streets.

"Knife crime has no place whatsoever in our communities.

"We continue to carry out stop checks, warrants and land searches to take weapons off our streets, but the assistance of members of the public coming forward with information about such incidents is vital to ensure the safety of families and residents.

"If you know anything about this incident, please let us know as soon as possible.

"Your information could be vital in tracking down those responsible and removing any dangerous weapons from our streets."
