A MAN has been arrested following a "violent dispute" involving a kitchen knife in Prenton.

At around 1.30am this morning (Monday, February 5) officers received a report that a man had entered a property on Mellor Road in Prenton yesterday evening and threatened a man inside with a kitchen knife after a violent dispute.

The man sustained a minor injury to his groin.

Damage was also caused to the window of the property when the suspect made off after the incident.

Officers later arrested a 57-year-old man on suspicion of common assault, criminal damage and a public order offence.

He was taken to a police station in Merseyside where he remains in custody.
