A CIVIL celebrant from Wirral is a finalist in The English Wedding Awards 2024.

Jeanette Roberts is one of the finalists in the ‘wedding celebrant of the year’ category who will find out if they will be crowned winner and take the trophy home at a ceremony that will take place in early 2024 in Birmingham.

The awards, now in their seventh year, aim to recognise and reward those within the wedding industry in the North of England that work towards making the big day as perfect as possible.

Jeanette, from Tranmere, decided she wanted to become a wedding celebrant after she gave her sister away at her Australian wedding in 2014.

She worked in a secondary school at the time and when she arrived home from Australia she could not afford the training to become a celebrant as her youngest twins were going to university at the time.

In 2016, a voluntary redundancy came up at Jeanette's school and so she decided to leave to pursue her dream of becoming a celebrant. She qualified with The Fellowship of Professional Celebrants (FPC).

On her nomination for an English Wedding Awards, Jeanette, said: “It was with great excitement that I received an email from The English Wedding Awards 2024 with news of my nomination.

"There are so many wonderful and talented celebrants who are going above and beyond every day, so it is always a privilege to be recognised with a nomination for an award.”

A spokesperson for the awards said: “We’re glad to have the opportunity to celebrate the continued development of the wedding industry.

“The competition is tough this year but it is time to acknowledge everyone who has shown dedication and professionalism in their workplace; two key features that make individuals and businesses stand out from the rest.

“We congratulate all the finalists for their remarkable achievements.”
