A CAFE in Birkenhead Market has been hit with the lowest possible hygiene rating following its latest inspection.
Alexandra Café, which is located inside Birkenhead Market on Claughton Road, was rated zero after its inspection on October 25.
The café, which re-opened to customers in 2021, is described on social media as a "popular destination when visiting Birkenhead Town Centre".
They serve breakfasts, sandwiches, jacket potatoes, and hot drinks including coffee.
However, inspectors said that the café required "urgent improvement" in all categories when it was inspected.
Categories include the management of food safety, hygienic food handling and cleanliness and conditions of facilities and buildings.
Alexandra Café was approached for a comment but did not respond.
