"Winning the public vote was an absolute joy, but even just being a part of this event was an absolute blast. I am already wanting to enter again next year, as it was so much fun and definitely worth every minute of preparation.’"

Centre Fundraising Manager, Sashia Mathias, added: "We were delighted to have hosted the fourth Strictly Maggie’s fundraising event.

"I continue to be astounded by the guest numbers that come to support to this event – exciting for Maggie’s but also be nerve-wracking for our dancers, all of whom have kindly taken on the challenge.

"Each participant has given up their free time, sold tickets, and had a fundraising target of £1,000, and my sincere thanks go to them for making a huge difference. It is so important for Maggie’s to raise vital funds from this event to ensure we are there for those living with, and beyond, cancer.’"

Maggie’s Wirral believes that "everyone should have access to professional psychological and emotional support, to help life feel more manageable for people affected by cancer".

The centres’ professional teams provide help and information and run groups and activities, all designed to make coping with cancer easier.

Centre Head Kathy wright said: "We are extremely grateful to all the amazing dancers, attendees and the sponsored for their incredible support and for helping to keep our doors open for people who need us now more than ever.

"We have thousands of visits every year and our team of qualified professionals deliver an evidence-based programme of support, which has shown to improve physical and emotional wellbeing. Without the support of people like this would not be possible."
