THE sisters of Haydn Griffiths have said they are “honoured” to have taken part in RNLI 200 Voices podcast.  

Sisters Megan and Brogan Griffiths from Lowton, near Wigan, tragically lost their 23-year-old brother Haydn after he drowned following an ill-fated attempt to swim to the wind turbines in Liverpool Bay after entering the water near Derby Pool in New Brighton on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, 

Following extensive searches by the RNLI, Haydn’s family, and members of the local community, Haydn’s body was found five days later by the coastguard near the Marina in Crosby.

Now the sisters have featured in the 93rd episode of RNLI 200 Voices podcast where they are campaigning for water safety and are hoping to raise awareness in their brother’s memory.

Megan Griffiths said: “We are absolutely honoured to be a part of the RNLI 200 Voices podcast. The charity that saves lives at sea, the RNLI celebrates and commemorates 200 years of lifesaving.

“I was truly overwhelmed to hear Sir Ben Ainslie closing the episode – an idol to us growing up in the dinghy sailing world. Haydn won an event previously won by Sir Ben and we had the trophy in the cabinet for a year.

“Haydn was an incredible sailor, and he would be honoured to hear Sir Ben and his two big sisters spreading positive messages in his memory.

“We will continue to promote water safety awareness in Haydn’s memory and support the RNLI with their lifesaving work. Incredible humans.”
