AN Ellesmere Port catering company has been named the second best in the country at a national wedding competition.
Danielle Slater, 54, set up Lilybetts Catering in 2014 and Dawn Brady, 45, joined her in 2019.
Danielle and Dawn, along with their team, cater for weddings, christenings, parties and afternoon teas across Wirral, Chester and Cheshire.
On November 1 the pair, both from Ellesmere Port, attended a ceremony at the Manchester Mercure in Piccadilly and found out they had come second in the Caterer of the Year category at The Nation's Wedding Awards 2023.
Speaking to the Globe, they said: "The nominees for Caterer of the Year were of an exceptional calibre, so to even be a finalist against these companies was a huge honour.
"The majority of the finalists cater for three-course sit down meals, canapes and full waiting on staff where we really pride ourselves on the quality and quantity of our buffets, hot food and additional platters.
"To be highly commended by the judging panel and come in second was a real shock.
"Our team works so hard and so dedicated in providing the best possible service and food to not only our wedding parties but also our birthdays, anniversaries, funerals and corporate clients.
"A massive thank you to all our friends, family and our loyal customers who voted for us, have stood by us and supported us, we really are overjoyed with the result."
