Tell me a bit about your business
Workingtogether1-2-1 is a private well-being clinic based in Heswall. We offer counselling, hypnotherapy, life coaching and neuro linguistic programming (NLP) to adults, children, students, couples and anyone who is struggling with their mental health. We also offer online, Whatsapp, Zoom and telephone correspondence. We offer discounts to people who are unemployed and students. We work alongside outside agencies and are part of the Employment Assistant Programme. We pride ourselves on getting to the root core of the client’s presenting issue and support and help them move forward. We have also attended well-being days, delivered workshops to colleges, donated to local charities and worked closely with the community. For 15 months, we were part of a project to reduce the waiting time within the NHS, offering support to anyone who was struggling with their mental health and this was also delivered at a reduced rate. Recently, one of our clients nominated Workingtogether1-2-1 for an award and we were named Hypnotherapist of the Year 2023/2024 by Central England Prestige Awards. This highlights the level of our service.
Why did you decide to open your own business?
Throughout my working life, I have always been passionate about helping and supporting people. After working within an education, primary and private setting, I decided to take a big step and work for myself. As a sole trader I have built my business.
What’s your business background?
Mental health and well-being.
Why this type of business?
I have a passion for mental health and I could see the increase in demand from society on both children and adults. The support network for mental health is stretched beyond its limits and I offer support to people who need it.

Were you open before/during/after the Covid-19 pandemic? How did this affect your business?
I was open during the pandemic with a reduced service and measures put in place. I offered Zoom, Whatsapp, online and telephone appointments as an alternative too.
What makes your business different to others in the same area/field? What sets your business apart from your competitors?
I offer a bespoke service by adapting sessions to meet individuals’ needs. I listen and together we decide on the best approach. I will use hypnotherapy and counselling together to help each client move forward and deal with their presenting issue.
Why do loyal customers return to your business?
My clients return to my business as they feel that I understand, listen, am empathic, non-judgemental and meet their individual needs. They also love the clinic as it is welcoming, relaxing and safe.
What’s next? What do the next few months hold for you and your business?
There are exciting times ahead for Workingtogether1-2-1. I want to branch out and offer training to corporate companies on work-related stress and to go into schools and deliver workshops.
