KNIVES, golf clubs and a pickaxe handle were among weapons recovered by police during a search of open land in Leasowe.
Wirral officers and the Matrix disruption team carried out the search on Monday (October 16) on Twickenham Drive as part of an ongoing and pre-planned disruption and reassurance campaign, following a series of incidents in the area.
Five knives, three golf clubs, two bars and a pickaxe handle were discovered hidden in undergrowth.
The search is part of increased patrols in the area following a series of anti-social behaviour and criminality, including an incident on October 11 where a 17-year-old boy and a 29-year-old man were stabbed and had their bikes stolen by a group of youths near Reeds Lane.
Officers and partners are working closely together to identify those responsible and are putting measures in place to prevent other incidents occurring.
Sergeant Graeme Gibbons said: This is an important recovery as it means that these weapons cannot be used to cause fear and intimidation in the community.
“We remain committed to targeting those who choose to carry and use weapons on our streets and bringing them to justice.
"Patrols have been stepped up in the area and we have robust measures in place to ensure that we identify those committing these crimes and prevent others from acting in a similar way.
"We will always act on intelligence where criminals are storing weapons and drugs.
"I urge anyone with information to come forward so we can keep your community safe."
Anyone with information about where drugs, weapons or stolen goods are being stored can direct message @MerPolCC on X (Twitter) or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
