Poulton Victoria Women's Team raise money for Elle Edwards Foundation

Poulton Victoria Women's Team will be playing Blackburn Community Women FC on Sunday (October 1) with a kick-off time of 2pm at Clayton Lane.

Donations at the gate will all go to the Elle Edwards Foundation, which was set up by Elle's dad Tim Edwards last month.

27-year-old Elle was shot in the head with two bullets outside the Lighthouse Pub in Wallasey on Christmas Eve.

Her killer, Connor Chapman, 23, was jailed for a minimum of 48 years in July.

The foundation's GoFundMe page has currently raised over £6,000, which will help families affected by gun crime while raising awareness about anti-gun and knife crime across the world.

Lee Austin, Poulton Victoria Women's Manager, said: "It is a massive day for our club with it being the first game in the FA Cup at home. We are a Wallasey-based women's team and we wanted to use the opportunity of being in the FA Cup to highlight a worthy cause in our community.

"We couldn't think of anything better than supporting the Elle Edwards Foundation. This tragedy affected us all as local residents. We have been inspired by Elle's father Tim's determination and positivity to effect positive change to support all those affected by gun and knife crime.

"If we can use the exposure that comes with the cup to highlight this amazing cause we are delighted to do so."
