AN Oxton restaurant has been awarded a one-star food hygiene rating.
Low Slow and Dough, located on Claughton Firs in Oxton, was inspected on August 10, where they were awarded a one-star food hygiene rating.
The business opened their first venue in May, however, they had been supplying food to Franklyn’s in Heswall and Love Lane Brewery in Liverpool before this.
Low Slow and Dough is a "modern Tex-Mex restaurant" serving dishes such as tacos, smash burgers, brunch, nachos and more.
What did the report say?
According to the Food Standards Agency website, the areas, "hygiene food handling" which falls under food preparation, cooking, re-heating, cooling, and storage, and the "cleanliness and condition of facilities and building" both said improvement was "necessary".
However, the "management of food safety" which falls under the system or checks in place to ensure that food sold or served is safe to eat and evidence that staff know about food safety said "major improvement" was necessary.
'Real challenge'
Ian Marray, owner of Slow and Dough, said: "We opened our first independent venue in Oxton just 12 weeks prior to our inspection.
"We had been working towards developing a set of practices and procedures that would guarantee us achieving a five-star rating, but admittedly the limited timescale proved a real challenge.
"We’re grateful for the guidance we’ve been given and have since addressed every concern raised and also accelerated a planned complete refit of the tired kitchen we inherited, actions which have subsequently been praised during a recent revisit."
