A WOMAN is in hospital following a dog attack in Woodchurch over the weekend.
Police were called to a property on Orrets Meadow Road, Woodchurch at 5.30pm on Saturday (September 16) to reports that a dog had bitten two people.
A woman in her 50s had been bitten on the neck, face and arms. A 50-year-old man also suffered injuries to his hand and was treated at the scene.
The woman, 51, is continuing to recover from her injuries which are not believed to be life threatening.
Merseyside Police confirmed that a man in his 50s was arrested on suspicion of owning a banned breed and having a dog dangerously out of control. He has been released under investigation pending further inquiries.
The dog, an American pitbull, has been humanely destroyed.
Inquiries remain ongoing.
