A PENSBY High School teacher appeared on an episode of The Chase yesterday (Monday, September 11).
Anya Moss, from Bromborough, auditioned for ITV's The Chase six years ago whilst finishing her undergraduate degree in Neuroscience.
After getting through to the auditions in Manchester, the science teacher was told she could be waiting a few weeks or up to a year before filming.
The 26-year-old told the Globe: "About five years later, I had completely forgotten about it and got a phone call asking me to go on the show. Then a few weeks later I went to Enfield to record."
The Episode
In the episode, which was aired yesterday evening at 5pm on ITV, Anya bagged £1,000 in her cash builder, and decided to take the lower offer of £500 from Jenny Ryan (The Vixen) during her round.
Anya added: "It really is so much more difficult than sat on the couch at home.
"I was even answering the questions of the person before me and thought "Yeah I've got about seven, I'll be fine!" and ended up with a lot less than seven right."
After making it home safely in her round, Anya and her teammates Oli and Liz built up a score of 13 in the final chase, but they were unfortunately beaten by The Vixen, losing the £11,500 they had accumulated.
Speaking about the show, Anya said: "The staff and production team were great, I even got my own Chase water bottle, but it was all very surreal.
"I got my own dressing room, and they neatened up my hair and makeup and I even had to bring several different outfits so they could pick which looked best on camera.
"Bradley Walsh was as lovely as he is on TV and the chaser was super friendly between takes. You really don't know who it is till they come out the top of the board.
"They take the quiz and questions very seriously and even have an official independent adjudicator.
"The rest of the team was super friendly, and we were all just there to have a good time. No hard feelings from anyone about getting something wrong and turns out the world is really small as my cousin used to work with one of the contestants."
Anya said that it was an "overall great day" as she had "ticked one off the bucket list" but she "will not be doing it again".
She said: "It is a lesson in putting yourself out there even if you don't succeed."
