A POLICE cordon is in place in Tranmere today after reports of a "vicious assault" in the early hours.
Residents reported a disturbance and screams along on Bebington Road, Tranmere, earlier this morning (Saturday, September 9).
Patrolling police officers were quickly on the scene around the junction of Bebington Road and Birckett Road, and reported seeing a fight taking place between three men.
After splitting the fight up, a man was caught and arrested while another man fled but was also arrested at a nearby address.

A 26-year-old victim is reported to have sustained serious injuries and was rushed to hospital for treatment to a punctured lung, multiple abrasions, and a head injury.
It has been said that his injuries could have proved fatal if not for the prompt response of officers and rapid first aid.
A 25-year-old man from Oxton has been since arrested on suspicion of Section 47 assault and a 21-year-old man from Rock Ferry has been arrested on suspicion of Section 18 assault.
Both are in custody and will be interviewed by detectives.
A police presence remains at the scene on Bebington Road, which is cordoned off as officers deal with the incident.
Detective Chief Inspector Ben Dyer, said: "This was a particularly vicious assault, which resulted in a man sustaining really serious injuries. If it hadn't been for the prompt response of our officers we have been told that this could have been fatal.
"I would appeal to any members of the public who witnessed the incident, or who has CCTV or doorbell footage that captured the incident to contact us. We are particularly interested in speaking to the two women who were at the scene as information they have could be vital to our inquiries."
