THE Wirral Globe, in partnership with Wirral Chamber of Commerce, will host a Jobs and Careers Fair next week.

The event will be taking place at The Lauries, Exmouth Room, 142, Claughton Road, Birkenhead, CH41 6EY.

The Careers Fair will take place on Thursday, September 14.

Here we profile Home Instead one of the employers who will be attending

Since opening its doors in 2007, Home Instead Wirral has delivered more than 1.5 million hours of care to thousands of local elderly people.

The company was Wirral’s first CQC Outstanding rated home care provider, meaning it sits at the forefront of home care in the local community.

Owned and operated by local couple Mike and Catharine Chalton, Home Instead Wirral is very much involved at a community level across Wirral and Neston, supporting local groups that focus on helping ageing adults and their families.

Whether that’s providing companionship cafés, providing support for specialist dementia groups, or partnering with age-related charities, Home Instead is committed to changing the face of ageing.

Catharine Chalton has spent her entire career caring for people, since originally training as a nurse with the British Army, before moving on to become a specialist nurse within the NHS. Her years of experience as a nurse, mean she is highly accomplished in her role as Care Director.

Catharine said:  "Mike and I are immensely proud of what Home Instead Wirral has achieved in terms of delivering truly world class care services to so many local people across Wirral. We didn’t really imagine when we started out with our office in the Lauries Centre in Birkenhead, that the business could grow to become a leader in domiciliary care.

"The key to this success is having the most incredible team of care professionals and key players supporting and guiding them.

"Of course, success brings challenges, and as a quality company, maintaining extremely high standards is paramount.

"Therefore, a constant challenge for us is finding people with the right mindset and caring nature, who genuinely want to make a difference to the lives of older adults.

"We are very person-centred in our approach, which is why we match our clients and Care Professionals based on personality and interests, so we need people from a diverse range of backgrounds. However, we are very selective about the people we employ, and as diverse as they are, they all have a common set of shared values and ultimately, they are caring by nature.

"Throughout the pandemic period, the social care sector was finally recognised for being a profession, meaning it stood proudly alongside the NHS. We are supported by a global brand, which means we have both the knowledge, means and infrastructure to professionally train and help develop people so they have a career in care.

"That’s why we’re back at the Lauries Centre next week (where it all started) to meet people who want to join our amazing team, who recognise that there’s no such thing as just a carer! It’s a profession that rewards in so many ways, and one that is future-proof as our population ages.

"So, to anyone who is considering a career with Home Instead, please pop along to meet our recruitment team. They’ll be pleased to meet you.’ For further information please contact Sue on 0151 382 4000 or visit https://homeinstead.co.uk/recruitment/wirral
