A FOUNDATION set up by the father of Elle Edwards has reached its £5,000 target following the completion of his charity walk yesterday (Thursday, August 24).
Tim Edwards and his friend, actor and comedian, John May, both celebrated their birthdays yesterday by reaching Land's End after a 250-mile walk in memory of Elle, who was murdered on Christmas Eve at the Lighthouse in Wallasey.
Connor Chapman, 23, was jailed for life - to serve a minimum of 48 years - for her murder earlier this year.
John originally began his walk from Land's End to John O'Groats back in January for Weapons Down Gloves Up, a boxing initiative tackling gun and knife crime.
Tim decided to join him in March from Worcester for the rest of his journey after the loss of his daughter but wanted to set himself a challenge to walk the 250 miles he missed out at the start.
Over the past two weeks, the pair have walked through Tewkesbury, Bristol, Devon and Cornwall before finally reaching their final destination.
A few hours after the walk was complete, John posted an emotional video on Instagram captioned "This video sums up how important this walk has been to us...".
In the video, Tim says "Its all been about Elle from the beginning. Now we go on" while the pair hug and cry together.
Foundation has reached its target
Today (Friday, August 28), Tim confirmed on social media that the Elle Edwards Foundation GoFundMe page had reached its target of £5,000.
He said that the money "will go towards the start of our foundation and to the beginning of something so important to our family".
It continued: "We aim to just make the world a better place for as many people as we can that have been affected by gun and knife crime, also to get future generations to think twice about going down the road of gangs and violence because as we know there are no winners when it comes to picking up that knife or gun.
"I can't thank everyone enough who has donated and is supporting what we are trying to do with the foundation, I have always said Elle will guide the foundation and its role in our world because I know she will want it to help as many people as possible from all walks of life.
"So again thank you from the whole family and keep being boss."
