A PUBLIC consultation has been launched to give feedback on early ideas for the development of the Lyceum.

Port Sunlight Village Trust (PSVT), together with Chambers Conservation, are starting the initial consultation to give residents and visitors the opportunity to view and give their feedback on draft early ideas for the development of the Lyceum into a new community and visitor hub.

The Lyceum was originally built as the school for the developing community of Port Sunlight and was used as a place of worship until the church was built. Currently it is used partly as a social centre, as an exhibition gallery and as office space.

Initial work has identified the importance and suitability of the Lyceum for a mix of public uses and the role they could play in providing a central visitor hub.

Paul Harris, Chief Executive of PSVT said: "We would like to re-imagine the Lyceum and create an inspiring place for residents and visitors to meet, create and learn. Working with Chambers Conservation, we’ve created a series of visuals containing early ideas and the thinking behind them.

"We would encourage people to come and share their views at Bridge Cottage on Park Road between Wednesday, August 23 – Sunday, September 10. The visuals are on display between 10am and 4pm.

"Although this is only in the very early stages, we are very excited about exploring ideas about how the Lyceum can form a part of the village in years to come. Resident and visitor feedback will help shape our plans for this historic building."
