A Wirral nurse is offering reiki courses to help combat a 'crisis' in children's mental health.

Aimee Greaves, Founder of Merseyside Mindful Mammas, is hosting four-week courses to teach children skills such as meditation, mindfulness and energy healing to improve their mental and emotional well-being.

With one in six children aged five to 16 identified as having a probable mental disorder in a recent NHS report, Aimee says she is on a mission to bridge that gap.

Aimee, who has 20 years’ experience working for the NHS' children and adult mental health services, also runs her own holistic well-being company, offering various services to combat the issues children are facing.

One of the 'very effective tools' she has been using is reiki, with her courses having 'profound results'.

The therapy has helped children develop a sense of calm and focus, whilst helping them manage stress and anxiety and improving their overall wellbeing, and feedback from parents has been incredible.

It is now being used by the NHS in mental health and cancer services.

Aimee, a mental health professional with 20 years' experience, said: "The child mental health crisis is very real unfortunately.

"I've seen a big increase in children suffering from a wide range of issues and the NHS waiting list for mental health is over 12 months currently.

"This is why I am so passionate about bridging the gap and starting children early and why I founded Merseyside Mindful Mammas."

Aimee’s intimate courses are limited to eight children and involve them learning how to practise reiki, whilst integrating mindfulness, meditation and crystal healing — resulting in them receiving their Reiki I attunement with a certificate at the end.

Snacks are provided, there's a manual to take home and a bonus session outdoors in nature enjoying a family picnic.

The next course is taking place at Nou You in Birkenhead during the summer holidays this Friday, August 11 and every Friday thereafter for four weeks.

After the course, children will be able to implement what they have learnt into daily life and be able to practise reiki and energy healing on themselves and others.

Aimee also offers Munay-Ki 13th Rite of the Womb Healing Ceremonies for mothers — powerful womb ceremony events that also feature cacao, a healing sound bath and one to one treatments of energy healing.

Aimee works with women to improve their mental and emotional wellbeing and help them be the best mothers they can be.

In addition to this, she offers all adults Youth Mental Health First Aid courses.

The regular 2 day courses are available for £200 for anyone wanting to become trained in mental health first aid for young people — ideal for anyone working with children or for anyone who wants to add to their qualifications and make a difference.

Aimee continued: "Reiki for children is a powerful practise and it gives them the tools to manage their mental health and emotional wellbeing.

"These are invaluable skills that can help keep children happy and avoid a potential crisis. I also offer ceremonies and practises for mothers and youth mental health first aid — we all need to pull together to bridge this gap."
