A WIRRAL group that offers support for families in need was joined by Merseyside's Police and Crime Commissioner at a celebratory event.
Crea8ing Community is a Wirral-based non-profit social enterprise, offering mental health support, well-being workshops and psycho-educational courses for families, children and young people.
They take a holistic approach to services, also providing wraparound support, therapeutic interventions, family coaching, peer-led support groups and family activities.
On Thursday, July 20, Crea8ing Community held their 'Family Graduation', celebrating the achievements of local families on programmes, which offer the skills and tools to support them in dealing with the up and downs of life.
Crea8ing Community was joined by Emily Spurrell, Merseyside Police and Crime Commissioner, to acknowledge the hard work and determination of all involved. The Whole Family Therapeutic Programme is funded through the Merseyside Violence Reduction Partnership as part of an early intervention approach to supporting communities.
Merseyside Police and Crime Commissioner, Emily Spurrell said: "Grassroots organisations like Crea8ing Community are pivotal in empowering people to create happier lives and healthier neighbourhoods.
"It’s been fantastic to see how this project is providing community-based support to young people and their families who need it most, and these families should be so proud of the resilience and hard work they’ve shown that will help change their lives for the better.
"If we are to make our region safer, its groups like this that make all the difference. That’s why I’m committed to continuing to support the incredible work they, and other grassroot charities, do to transform lives and build stronger communities."
The Inspirational Parent Award is peer selected and highlights individuals whose determination despite adversity have demonstrated commitment and resilience in implementing transformational life changes.
Recipient, Hazel Kelly, said: "I really appreciate everything I learned. I spent years feeling guilt and shame that I wasn't a great parent, now I understand, I did the best I could with what I knew at the time. I will be forever grateful to Crea8ing Community for the amazing life-changing opportunity."
A visitor added: "It’s clear that the families are full of respect, joy and appreciation for the Crea8ing Community team. Families appreciate every opportunity they have had to aid them on their journey and celebrate the future."
