LETTERS are going out to people in parts of Wirral informing them of temporary changes to bin collections while the borough hosts The Open Golf Championship.
Tens of thousands of visitors a day are due to be coming to see what is one of the biggest sporting events in the world when it is held at the Royal Liverpool Golf Club in Hoylake from July 16-23.
The letters are now going out to residents in Hoylake, West Kirby and Meols who will have their bin collection day changed that week only to let them know of the new collection day.
Collections will return to their usual schedule from July 24. Residents are asked to have their bins out at their usual collection point by 7am on the rearranged day and to help ease congestion to ensure that bins are safely stored off pavement once they have been emptied.
The rearranged bin collections could be completed by a different crew to the usual one, however if a bin collection is missed, residents are asked to report this to the council via the website as soon as possible.
