THE River Mersey will appear in a new Channel 5 series following the people behind the Marine and Coastguard Agency (MCA).
Coastguard: Every Second Counts is a six-part observational documentary series following the MCA.
With exclusive access and 12 months in the making, the show follows the multiple-team organisation across the length and breadth of the UK.
From Search and Rescue helicopter incidents, to fatal criminal maritime investigations, as well as survey inspectors examining and detaining fishing trawlers to commercial tankers and the ever-tense 999 mayday operations centre where nail-biting stories playout.
The show follows the MCA as they protect and respond to incidents and accidents across the shores.
Our new series COASTGUARD starts Sunday 2 July at 9pm on @channel5_tv.

When will the River Mersey appear?
In episode one, which will air tomorrow (Sunday, July 2), a crewman tragically passes away while attempting to board a Tugboat while jumping off a Jetty on the River Mersey.
The MCA’s Regulatory Compliance Investigations Team look into the incident to investigate how something like this could have happened. The investigator heads back to the scene of the incident and gathers as much evidence and intelligence as possible before taking it to a jury.
If prosecuted the owners of the tugboat could face a massive fine or even a prison sentence.
Coastguard: Every Second Counts will air on Sunday, July 2 at 9pm on Channel 5.
