A BEBINGTON takeaway has received a huge boost in its latest food hygiene score after mouse droppings were found at the venue during an inspection earlier this year.
Golden Wheel Takeaway on Cross Lane was awarded a zero food hygiene rating after an inspection on February 17.
A Freedom of Information request obtained by the Globe confirmed that: "The standards found at the time of the initial inspection were not acceptable due to the widespread activity of mice".
The takeaway, which serves Chinese and English dishes, was awarded a rating of 20 for hygeine (25 being the poorest), 25 for structure (25 being the poorest) and 30 for confidence in management (30 being the poorest) after its initial inspection.

There were over 20 mouse droppings found, including in areas where sauces were stored and behind an open box of ginger.
Following this, the takeaway has since been re-inspected by food standards officials and received a four-out-of-five or 'Good' rating.
The re-inspection took place on Thursday, June 8.
Michael Ho, the takeaway owner, said: "We did wrong in the past, but we won't let this happen again and we would like to say sorry to all our customers. Thank you."
Food hygiene ratings are given to food handling businesses from a score of zero to five, which reflects the standards found by the local authority on the date on inspection.
