A NEW study has found that two of Wirral's beaches are in the top 10 for 'best coastal locations' across England and Wales.
Research from outdoor clothing and equipment shop, Millets, has revealed the best coastal beach holiday locations in England and Wales, looking at the most populated coastal areas.
The team looked at the average review ratings, the water quality ratings, the warmest ocean temperatures and also the average parking costs for up to four hours.
Additionally, they reviewed the number of beaches for each region, which regions have the most pet-friendly beaches and the region with the most beach activities.
Wallasey Beach came in fifth place with a review score of 4.6, a warmest warmer temperature of 16.9C and an overall score of 7.70/10.
Taking the top spot was Tynemouth in the North East with it's main beach as Long Sands Beach.
Wirral bagged another spot in the top 10 with Meols Beach.
The sandy beach got a review score of 4.5 and an overall rating of 7.18/10.
The region in England and Wales with the highest number of beaches is the South West of England, with 452. This is over 250 more than South East England which has the second-highest number of beaches with 199 in total.
Northumberland has been named the coastal destination with the most pet-friendly beaches. Of the 33 beaches in the area, 31 of them are pet-friendly, meaning that 93.94% are great options for pet owners.
