TRAINS from New Brighton were cancelled yesterday after a gang of youths caused a disturbance onboard.

At around 8.22pm yesterday evening (June 1) British Transport Police were called to New Brighton train station following reports of anti-social behaviour among a group of children.

Due to the disturbance, the 8.23pm New Brighton to Liverpool and the 8.50pm Liverpool Central to New Brighton trains were cancelled.

Services were reinstated at Birkenhead North and departed at 9.02pm.

Residents in the area reported a police presence outside New Brighton train station were police cars and officers were spotted.

A spokesperson for British Transport Police told the Globe: “We were called at 8.22pm to New Brighton following a disturbance among a group of youths. Officers attended and they had already left the service.”
