A WIRRAL firm has moved to a purpose-built, greener home on the waterfront after a century at its previous location.

McEwan Wallace Chartered Accountants and Business Advisers has moved from Argyle Street in Birkenhead, to a new office at nearby Monks Ferry.

The new location, next to Cammel Laird, overlooks the River Mersey to the Liverpool skyline and offers a 'contemporary and collaborative workspace' for the firms expanding team.

It features interactive meeting rooms, the latest technology and quiet zones.

Anne Stubbs, director at McEwan Wallace and relocation project leader, said: "We were never going to move far.

"It was a conscious decision to invest in Birkenhead and its future. We wanted to continue our commitment to help local businesses and the local community and that's why we enlisted the help of local firms to transform our new office space.

"Another key driver for the move was to create office space that would benefit our staff.

"We listened carefully to their ideas and suggestions and hope the renovation reflects that – from interactive meeting rooms and the latest technology to collaborative areas and quiet zones, all with an added emphasis on reducing our environmental impact."

Anne continued: "Our commitment to being greener was at the forefront of our minds in trying to reduce the waste produced from the move and our priority was to ensure as little waste went to landfill as possible.

"This was achieved by repurposing what we could and rehoming equipment and furniture to local businesses for their own premises.

"We also donated the remainder of the desks, chairs, white goods and IT equipment to charities in Birkenhead and Bolton, with some also shipped to those in need in Cameroon."

The move was made possible by Paul Helsby, at Design Metric Limited, who not only project-managed the entire transformation but was "integral" in the building and interior design process.

McEwan Wallace's client, Heatons Group supplied the contemporary and ergonomic office furniture that has been responsibly sourced and, according to Anne, "really compliments our design concept".

Anne Stubbs said: "Our IT team. Parallel ICT worked tirelessly "to ensure a seamless switchover, with no unwelcome surprises on move-in day!

"We have been inviting clients to come and take a look and we are proudly giving them a guided tour!"
