A FORMER Liverpool gangster has spoken about the time he encountered Thomas Cashman the man who killed school girl Olivia Pratt-Korbel.
Darren Gee was jailed in 2006 for ordering the murder of 36-year-old David Regan, shot dead outside an Old Swan car wash in May, 2004.
Gee, along with his brothers, became a notorious gang member, who terrorised Everton's Grizedale estate back in the early-to-mid 2000s.
Since his release, he has gained a following on Youtube, TikTok and Instagram, where he shares sometimes serious, sometimes tongue-in-cheek videos often warning others not to get involved in drugs or gang crime.
Gee has now spoken to NQI Talking True Cases podcast about his life in crime and revealed an encounter with Cashman who was found unanimously guilty of murdering Olivia, attempting to murder Joseph Nee, wounding with intent against Cheryl Korbel and two counts of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life. He was jailed for life with a minimum term of 42 years earlier this year.
"When I came out of prison I was screaming about organised crime groups and the damage they were doing," said Gee. "A certain group tried to kill me on March 17 2018 after three months of me being in Liverpool.
"They put the lad next to me in hospital but it never stopped me and I continue to be very local about the damage these individuals are doing.
!I started speaking about a certain group that Cashman ran around for and intimidated people for. When I started being vocal about that group Cashman contacted me.
"He came to my place where I was living and he had a gun on him. He came there as if he was going to do something and he asked me not to mention these lads' names.
"I told him to tell them to stop giving me s*** and I'll stop giving them s*** and then he left - that was the first time I'd ever heard of him or was aware of him."
Elsewhere on the podcast Gee speaks to presenter Mark Williams-Thomas about how the childhood abuse he faced from his parents, and the domestic violence he witnessed propelled him into a life of crime and goes into more detail about the brutal gang war that leads to the shooting of his friend Craig Barker which then lead to his involvement in the revenge murder of David Regan.
