THE owners of a new womenswear shop in Neston have said they have had "such a warm response" from the community.

Hilary James, originally from Stoke-On-Trent, but who now lives in Raby Mere, and Sue Byrne from Altrincham, but now living in Willaston, opened their new shop Wardrobe at the Cross in March.

With Sue's expertise in personal styling and Hilary's background in e-commerce and fashion, the pair have had a month full of new customers and success.

Speaking to the Globe, Hilary said: "It has just gone really well. I was really worried that certain days not a single customer would cross the threshold and that totally hasn't happened.

"We've had customers from all over Wirral and we've had such a good response to Facebook lives and our reels which has been great."

The shop sells small, independent brands, which are not sold in many places. Brands include My Essential Wardrobe, Beyond by Vera, Ganni, Rixo, Needle and Thread, Mrselfportrait, Fika, and Ibu Jewels.

Hilary added: "We're having so much success with local businesses as well. We sell candles from The End of The Avenue and they have just been flying.

"People are really liking the fact we have local products in our store."

In the shop, there is also the opportunity to rent dresses for a number of days or have a personal styling session with Sue.

They have also just received their 'Plastic Free Status' which is gained by removing at least three single-use plastic items (eg. plastic bags, coffee cups and plastic drinks bottles) and show a commitment to tackling any others present in the business going forwards.

Thanking the community...

"We just want to thank everyone for supporting us", Hilary added.

"People have just been spreading the word about us when they go to yoga or something. It's such a warm response.

"Everyone has been so forgiving as well. They know we've only been doing it for four weeks in terms of things such as larger sizes.

"They want to give us time to establish ourselves which is so lovely as well. They just get it."

Hilary went on to explain how much Sue and her are enjoying have their own shop.

She said: "We are just in our element. We absolutely love our shop and love Neston.

"We're in the middle of this lovely little community with lots of amazing businesses that we can support."
