A professional choir featuring members from both sides of the Mersey will put on a special performance this week in celebration of Eurovision 2023.
The ‘Over The Water Show Choir’ will be singing in Liverpool’s famous Williamson Tunnels at 6pm tomorrow (Friday, May 5).
The group originally formed back in 2017 as contestants on BBC1 Saturday night show Pitch Battle. When it was announced that Eurovision was coming to Liverpool, they decided to reform to rehearse a new show.
Many of the original members returned along with some new fantastic singers including X Factor finalist Jay Edwards, who was in boyband Eton Road.
As Eurovision approaches, the choir's brother and sister musical directors, Matt Lammin and Amy Chalmers have created bespoke arrangements of everyone’s favourite Euro classics!
Their set includes all sorts of surprises, including string players and choreography; they’ve already performed the show at the Walker Art Gallery as part of the Museum Sessions concert programme, Liverpool One for “Tickle the Ivories” and at Liverpool University as part of their Euro Fest.
They also did a session and interview for BBC Radio Merseyside to celebrate their love of all things Eurovision.
They have lots more exciting events booked in. The pop-up show nights listed will be announced nearer the time.
A spokesperson said: "The choir has been going down a storm on social media recently.
"Eurovision 2023 hopeful Mae Muller shared a clip of them singing I Wrote A Song, which clocked up over 100,000 views in just a few hours.
"Clips of their songs have also been liked and shared by Eurovision 2023 presentes Rylan, Scott Mills and Conchita Wurst.
"There are a few plans in the pipeline that can’t be shared yet, but keep an eye on our channels for all the latest updates."
