A MUSIC festival will return this August with two legendary funk and soul headliners.
After the success of last year’s music festival, Cosmic Cape is set to pitch its tents in Capenhurst, Chester once again for a one-day celebration of North-West talent.
Taking place on Saturday, August 5, the festival will see the fields filled with the sounds of old-school classics, new favourites and sunshine.
Curated and supported by local taste-maker Dave Monks (BBC Introducing) returning as Cosmic Cape’s host alongside collaborations with local businesses and charities – the community is at the heart of this event.
Dave said: "It was fantastic to host the inaugural Cosmic Cape in the summer of 2022. I am looking forward to hosting the festival again this August.
"It's nice to hear about the new location and plans to build on what was a really enjoyable day of music, art and food. It brought the whole community together last year, events like this are so important for local musicians from Chester and South Wirral area."
BBC Radio 6 Music’s Craig Charles will be spinning a Funk and Soul DJ Set in the first headline slot with the second going to the chart-topping soul and funk group The Real Thing.
With two stages to fill, the festival is full of talent with local newcomers Bright Town and Finnlay K making their Cosmic Cape debut, alongside Liverpool favourites such as Ian Prowse & Amsterdam, Blue Dolphin Wranglers and Zuzu.
The specialist kids area ensures that even the youngest in the region can attend and experience the live music.
Luke Done, Director of Cosmic Cape said: "We have a new location this year. We’ve increased spending and resources to help deliver a better festival in general. We’ve scaled literally everything up to make it bigger and better."
