WIRRAL has been revealed as one of the UK’s top “retro” places
The data, anaylsed by Betway, looked at the number of second-hand shops, record stores, retro and vintage listings on Etsy, vintage events as well as searches for retro related terms to reveal the UK’s top “retro cities”.
The research showed that Wirral had six record shops meaning that it had 1.8 record shops per 100,000 people. Ranking it as the second highest in the UK.
The borough ranked in ninth place for most “retro searches” with 74.1 second-hand shops per 100,000 people and 380 vintage and retro listings on Esty.
The monthly Google searches for the retro terms per 100,000 people was 104.53.
London took the top spot as the best city for retro lovers with the highest number of upcoming retro related events being held, from vintage fashion fairs to antiques fairs.
Manchester comes in second place, making the most amount of monthly Google searches per capita for retro-related terms such as “retro games”, “retro clothes” and “retro furniture”.
Leeds comes in third place and is the second of four northern locations to feature in the top 10, with 80.4 second hand shops per 100,000 residents.

The north is the best place as a whole for retro lovers in the UK
Looking at the top 10 as a whole, the north dominates the ranking as home to the most places best for retro lovers with Manchester, Leeds, Bradford and Wirral all featuring.
Bradford is home to the highest number of record shops per capita (2.7), the highest in the ranking, making it the best place for shopping for vinyl records.
